STEAM Teaching Assistant

Seeking teaching assistants who have the passion for education and teaching and love interacting with kids (senior primary/secondary school age group). There are three types of teaching assistants delivering our STEAM programmes:


A. Online Teaching Assistant - Bilingual in English and Mandarin

  • Assist and interpret local teachers as they conduct classes online to both New Zealand and Chinese students.


  • Receive training on our online teaching software, as well as teaching methods to develop your skills.


  • Seven weeks during the term, one class per week. Each class is approximately one hour, consisting of 15 minutes of preparation and 45 minutes of teaching.


  • Remote position (online).


  • Successful candidates may also train to become Teaching Assistant Supervisors through continuing to work with us.
     


B. In-school Teaching Assistant - Bilingual in English and Mandarin

Job summary:

In-school Teaching Assistants will deliver and lead educational activities to groups of international students, of senior elementary/ middle school age group (9-12 year olds). They will assist and interpret local teachers as they conduct classes at school.

Job description:

Lead educational STEAM activities provided by A&E at school.

Engage with the students in their learning and enhance their learning experience.

Manage and organise students to complete their activities.

Help look after the students’ mental and physical health.

Resolve whatever issues that may arise in a timely manner.

 

Candidate requirements:

Bilingual in English and Mandarin.

Be able to lead a group of 9-12 year olds in educational activities.

Have at least one year experience teaching primary and/or intermediate school students.

Be able to organise and manage effectively.

Have patience and a strong sense of responsibility.

Be good at communication.


C. On-site Teaching Assistants

Job summary:

Our study tours are educational trips to attraction sites around the city. On-site Teaching Assistants will deliver and lead educational activities to groups of international students, of senior elementary/ middle school age group (9-12 year olds). You will accompany Study tour leaders who will be leading the group, and help him/her supervise the students.

 

Job description:

Lead educational STEAM activities provided by A&E during the tour - most often at attraction sites such as museums.

Engage with the students in their learning and enhance their learning experience.

Manage and organise students to complete their activities.

Help look after the students’ mental and physical health.

Resolve whatever issues that may arise in a timely manner.

Candidate requirements:

Be able to lead a group of 9-12 year olds in educational activities.

Have experience supervising students aged 9-12 years old.

Have at least one year experience teaching primary and/or intermediate school students.

Be able to organise and manage effectively.

Have patience and a strong sense of responsibility.

Be good at communication.
